Soccer in the Goldfields

Junior Soccer includes boys and girls from 5 years to 17 years old.

Senior Soccer includes Men (16 years and older) and Women (15 years and older).

The Goldfields Soccer Association organises the playing of Junior Soccer here in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Coolgardie and Kambalda, and Senior Soccer here in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

They are responsible for:

• organising the fixtures

• making sure that games run smoothly during the season

• supply of match cards

• organising of goals, nets and other field markings

• liaising with the City Council about the use of grounds

• organising the insurance for players and public liability

• liaising with the Goldfields Football Referees Association.

Each club pays fees to the Association to pay for insurance, referee costs and contribute towards the upkeep of equipment, field marking, etc.

Each club also needs to support the Association by volunteering to help with the set up and pack up of the grounds when required.

The Goldfields Soccer Association looks after two different levels of Soccer: Small Sided Games and League.

Young Adults

In 2010, the Youth League age groups were brought into line with FFA guidelines. The Competitions are now 11/Under, 13/Under, 15/Under and 17/Under. The 11/U competition is 9 v 9 small sided football.

Small Sided Games

This is a simplified version of soccer, some rules have been removed and the number of players and size of the field depends on the age of the players. Children are placed in teams by their age level.

Small Sided Games are designed to give children a chance to learn the skills of soccer, develop their motor skills, learn to work as a team and have FUN. There is no ladder or “winning” team at the end of the season.

League

This is the full version of soccer played by children from 12 Years onwards. There is a competition ladder. There is also a Knockout Cup Competition.

The league competition is organised into:

• 13/U - 13 and Under - for 12 and 14 year olds with Gold and Blue Divisions (if enough teams)

• 15/U - 15 and Under - for 14 and 15 year olds with Gold and Blue Divisions (if enough teams)

• 17/U - 17 and Under - for 16 and 17 year olds with Gold and Blue Divisions (if enough teams)

• Seniors - for Ladies, Men's A Grade and Men's B Grade.
